Why Copy Dvds?
With the world becoming increasingly populated with millions of gigabytes of media information, it's completely natural to want to copy DVDs and protect all of your information. Whether the information is a movie disc, a collection of music albums burned to a DVD, or any other sort of data, you will want to save it all. Some people have many hundreds of DVDs in their collections.
There are many programs that can allow you to copy DVDs easily without losing any of the quality of the original media. While some are free to try or download from the Internet, there are many more products out there that can do the job better and faster and with no trouble at all. These products are well within the cost budget of anyone wanting to burn their information to DVD.
While some people disagree with the policy that allows you to copy DVDs, there is a larger body of opinion that says that if you buy a product on DVD, you should be able to make a back-up copy for your own protection without worrying about breaking any sort of copyright laws. This is called fair-use copying and it's completely legal. Many movie studios still dispute this valid customer need.
The problem seems to come up when people copy DVDs and then start lending or even selling them to their friends. This then becomes an abuse of the fair-use regulation and is usually frowned upon by the owners of the DVD copyrighted material. The proliferation of copied DVDs around the world is pretty much out of control now and will almost surely never be under any sort of effective control. As long as people buy DVDs they will want to be able to copy DVDs as well. This is just common sense. They will want to make a copy of the disc in case anything was to happen to it such as it being stolen or damaged. Many people will not even think of having a DVD without making a backup copy of it. There are even companies on the web that offer to copy DVDs for you for a small fee. They will also provide you with many more copies if you like, all for a price. The more that you buy, the cheaper each disc will end up costing you. This is called volume purchasing and is one of the best ways to get a deal when buying items in quantity. To copy DVDs effectively all you need is a DVD burner attached to your computer. Some of these burners are located inside your computer. These are called internal DVD burners, while burners that sit outside of your computer and are attached by a cable, are called external burners. The cost of DVD burners has fallen dramatically over the years. There are also many programs that are created just to copy DVDs with the use of the DVD burner attached to your computer. These programs vary in price with basic models offering a few functional features costing much less than programs with many more special burning features and functions.
