Copy Copyrighted DVDs
It's always a challenge to copy copyrighted DVDs because of the special encryption codes that some of them have as protection against copying. When you want to copy a DVD it's important to remember that the movie is a copyrighted piece and even though you buy the movie, the rights belong to someone else.
It's very simple to copy copyrighted DVDs when you have the right software program to handle the burning and copying of the data properly. While almost any DVD burning software will allow you to copy a movie disc to a blank disc, they all do it with varying amounts of features and speed. This is what sets some programs above others when it comes to copying DVDs.
To copy copyrighted DVDs the disc with the movie on it needs to be copied into a folder or other location within your computer. This data may take as long as an hour or more to copy, but generally takes less time than that. Once this data is copied it can then be accessed with the copying software and this data is then copied over and burned onto a blank DVD disc.
To copy copyrighted DVDs it may be necessary to have a special software program. Many older DVD players may not be able to properly decipher the new disc created with the burning software. This is becoming more and more of a rare occurrence however as DVD players become more updated with newer software coding. While this copied DVD movie will be playable on your computer and on many DVD players, there still may be some that the movie won't play on. But don't worry. This is happening less and less all the time as newer DVD models come out that have special features built in to handle these new DVD codes. When you copy copyrighted DVDs it's important that you only make one copy for your own use. This is a backup disc and is also called a fair-use copy of the DVD you purchased. This backup disc is so that in the event of a theft or fire or other damage to the original disc, you'll have a second copy in a safe place as a backup disc. To copy copyrighted DVDs and give away or sell the resulting movie copies is considered illegal by many countries and by all movie studios. Some movie studios have even gone so far as to record a special non-copying bit of software onto every disc to stop people from being able to effectively copy the disc for profit by selling the copies to others. Many people think that this shouldn't be allowed
