Duplicate Copyrighted DVDs
To duplicate copyrighted DVDs you need to know a little bit about the copyright laws in the country. Whether or not you pay any attention to copyright laws is entirely up to you. To make copies of copyrighted DVDs isn't hard really and is allowed by law anyway as long as you only make copies for your own use. These copies of the DVDs in your collection are called backup copies and aren't illegal.
You can duplicate copyrighted DVDs with almost any DVD burning software from within your computer. You need to copy the data from the movie into your computer and then use the copying software program to burn that information onto blank DVD discs. In this way your backup movie discs are easily created and you can either watch them or store them away in case the original is lost or damaged in any way.
If you duplicate copyrighted DVDs and give them away or sell them, however, you are breaking the law and will get into trouble when the authorities find out. Many people still copy DVDs and give them away to friends and family though because they know that the movie studios aren't going to go after each and every person who breaks this law. If you duplicate and give away hundreds of copies you should be wary though.
The duplicate copyrighted DVDs can then be saved in a safe place for use as your collection's backup discs. These copies are called fair-use copies and mean that you're allowed to make a copy of any disc you buy, provided that it's only for your own use as a backup in case the original gets stolen or damaged. Many people with DVD burners have already started making backup copies of their entire movie collection. When you duplicate copyrighted DVDs you may need to make sure that there is no other form of protection on the disc. Many movie distributing studios now have special anti-copy protection added to their DVDs so that even people wanting to make legal backup copies can't make those copies now. Many groups of people are against this form of protection because it doesn't allow them to make fair-use copies. Most duplicate copyrighted DVDs are of the same quality as the original discs they were copied from. This is because of the high quality of the software programs and the hardware such as good DVD burners that are available today. The cost of duplicate copyrighted DVDs is also very low now with blank DVDs being at the lowest price they've ever been at. When you duplicate copyrighted DVDs you not only save yourself money by not having to go out and buy a backup copy of the movie, but you also learn how to use your burning software better. This will allow you to make many more copies over the years with all of the movies in your collection. It's also a good idea to keep these backup copies of your movies in another safe place besides your own home in case of a fire at your house.
